Mountain Home ~ Dedicated to J. R. R. Tolkien

Mountain Home

Long-forgotten gold, they say,

It must be found, and come what may

Through danger they will carve a way

Unto their mountain home.

Gems of splendor and of light

Are theirs to gain, are theirs by right,

And they will press on through the night

Unto their mountain home.

Molded armor gilt in gold

Heirlooms more than ages old,

Histories shall be retold

Unto their mountain home.

Fire of forge and sparks that fly

Dance like dragons in the sky

Return they shall, though some may die,

Unto their mountain home.

Between the lake and mountain’s foot

Between the door and mountain’s root

Their steps have trod, the print of boot

Unto their mountain home.

Through mountain gate and open door

Some dwarves have passed to nevermore

Return from deeps of Erebor

Within their mountain home.
