Advent Perception
Advent Perceptions
The
red upon green
A dull-golden sheen;
White walls played with
flickering light.
A song in the air,
Both broken and
fair,
Lifts sorrow and darkness is bright.
The
stars in the trees
Are new, glowing leaves,
So sparse, yet like
halos of sun.
The carols sung nigh
And wind in the sky:
Two
melodies mingled as one.
The
children that play
And sing by the way
Are hatted and coated
and gloved.
The silver-white snow
Helps warm hearts to know
How
blesséd they are to be loved.
Oh,
feel the joy burn
At Christmas’ return:
Goodwill to men and
peace on earth.
This season of death
By God has been blest
As
time for the Living Word’s birth.
