Father
Father
“Father,”
I cry when I cannot pray,
When
all my words have melted away,
When
I have nothing left to say,
My
Father understands.
“Father,”
I cry when I feel alone
When
all my friends and kin are gone,
When
I am nothing before the throne,
My
Father understands.
“Father,”
I cry when my sin is great,
When
my soul is black and filled with hate,
When
nothing can I do but wait,
My
Father understands.
“Father,”
I cry when He frees my soul,
When
He makes this empty vessel full,
When
nothing of me could make me whole,
My
Father understands.
“Father,”
I cry when I want to sing,
When
I want to praise for everything,
When
nothing in my hand I bring.
My
Father understands.
“Father,”
I’ll cry when before the throne,
When
I praise Him for the battle won,
When
He’s my Lord and Lord alone.
My
Father will understand.
