Abide These Three
Pride – Destroyer of friends and kin.
Pride – The vilest reason to win.
Pride – The monster that dwells within.
Pride – A root of sin.

Greed – A mouth never satisfied.
Greed – The lust for which men have died.
Greed – The monster that dwells inside.
Greed – A root of sin.

Rage – An all-consuming gall
Rage – Turner of fool to thrall.
Rage – The monster inside us all.
Rage – A root of sin.

Sin – The curse we’re born into.
Sin – The lie in all we do.
Sin – The monster namèd You.
Sin – The way of Death.

Faith – Whereby the lost can pray.
Faith – The sinner’s only way.
Faith – To every monster slay.
Faith – A gift of God.

Hope – In what we strive to gain.
Hope – The Lamb for sinner’s slain.
Hope – To end the monster’s reign.
Hope – A gift of God.

Love – To save Man from his fall.
Love – Our “Abba, Father!” call.
Love – The greatest of them all.
Love – A gift of God.

God – The Father chose to save.
God – The Son conquered the grave.
God – The Spirit that They gave.
God – The way of Life.

  1. I love how it felt almost as if you personifying each of the vices and virtues, and provided a contrast between sin and God! Add on to that an amazing rhyme and structure, and you get a great poem! :D
